Set in the heart of Alphen, Constantia, this five-bedroom home was transformed into a light-filled summer retreat for European clients who love to entertain. Working with architect Jacklyn Cattell, the interiors were completely reimagined—introducing open-plan living, soaring pitched ceilings, and seamless flow to the outdoors.
The design blends Hamptons ease with European sophistication, grounded in South African artistry. Inspired by the client’s extensive art collection—including works by Marie-Louise herself—each room features its own colour story, layered with rich textures, bold wallpapers, and vibrant fabrics.
Highlights include walnut herringbone floors, a marble checkered foyer, a deep blue study, a floral guest toilet with fluted marble sink, and a Calacatta Viola statement bar. The home is finished with furniture by local designers including Bofred, James Mudge, Curación, and Greg Marshall—striking a balance between tradition, elegance, and contemporary South African flair.
